P is for Procrastination

e20227beb94b04d3ff410d5585bc4247You know the feeling when you have honestly so much work to do that you don’t know where to start so you start with a non-related, non-urgent task, like having a shower? Well, that has been me the last few weeks.

It’s crunch time for this trimester at Uni. In four Monday’s time I will be sitting a 3-hour exam. I have an assignment due every Monday up until then. I have my usual eating, sleeping, going to work, church, life to do. You would think that I would be so very wise with every inch of my time… If that was the case, you’ve thought slightly wrong! Haha.

I have worked hard, and I have made sacrifice for my study but here is a list of 5 activities I do while procrastinating from the really important things…

  1. SHOWERING
For some reason, I feel like a good use of my time straight after dinner (while my brain is still functioning well) is to have a shower. I tell myself that feeling fresh will keep me more alert and my brain more active… But then by the time I have finished I have even less motivation that beforehand!
  2. WATCHING RE-RUNS
I started watching Hart of Dixie from the start again a little while ago. This is always a bad idea for me to get involved with a show like that when I have a lot more important things on my agenda. I also have TV Shows like The Block and The Bachelor/Bachelorette keeping me entertained when my focus should be elsewhere.
  3. PLAYING HAY DAY
This is a game I have on my phone that I used to play a while ago (got super addicted so deleted the app) but then my 4-year-old nephew started playing it so I downloaded it again… Got totally sucked in to it, but it is nice bonding time with Elijah haha.
  4. BUDGETING
Now, I have a pretty solid and set budget and it has worked so well for me for the last two/three years I’ve structured it this way, but in recent times (i.e. when I have assignments to write) I’ve felt like it could use a tweaking. So, naturally I spent more hours than necessary shuffling things around, putting them back to how they were, and then landing on a slightly different format for how I allocate my finances.N.B. I love budgeting and enjoy knowing I’m doing the best I can with what I have, so even though the timing of this task could have absolutely waited, I do feel like it was a beneficial use of my time.
  5. BLOG WRITING
Lol… Because I literally am procrastinating right now… I will definitely admit that changing my website and re-launching, if you will, this could have waited until I was on Uni break, but yolo.

So over the next four weeks if you see frequent blog posts from me, it’ll either be 1) Because I’ve killed it with all my assignments and have finished everything, or 2) I’m procrastinating (I’m 98% sure it’ll be the latter).

Feel free to share your procrastinating methods with me! I still have 2.5 years of university to go!

Hi, I’m Hannah

I have not been great at the consistency with this blog writing business! I mean, I know you aren’t out there dying for me to post something new, but I think it’s been about a year since I’ve posted anything here which is crazy. But lately I’ve been thinking a lot about you who read this, the page as a whole and what it could become.

I want it to be honest. I want it to be personal. I want it to be consistent. I want it to be real. I want it to be me.

For it to be me, you probably need to know about me so you know that it is me… A confusing sentence, but what I thought I could do is a little “About Me” post!

So, I am Hannah. Hannah Louise King.
This is what I look like in black and white ↓

Me & New York City

I recently just turned 26 and I live in Ulverstone, Tasmania, with my Dad & Mum. I’m one of eight children and of the eight I am the third youngest. Although I’m one of eight, my parents lost their first baby at birth so there are just seven of us that my parents have had to stress over! I always find that an odd family fact to share because I never want to make people feel awkward about it but I still want to honour the fact that Katherine (my eldest sister) is still a part of our family. I also have one brother-in-law & three sister-in-laws (almost four) and between the lot of them they’ve made me the Auntie of three nieces and three nephews, with another one to arrive very soon. Being an Auntie is a pretty cool gig!

I have a boyfriend (oh, la la) and his name is Dylan. We’ve been dating for just over four and a half years which is awesome. He’s all kinds of wonderful and my life is exponentially better with him in it. My relationship with Dyl is something that I never, ever will take for granted. We haven’t had the typical dating experience (which maybe I’ll share another time), but in one way I wouldn’t change it for the world because through it I think we’ve built the best foundation for the rest of our lives to be built upon.

As far as work, I am the Practice Manager for a physiotherapy practice which I’ve done since 2014, and from 2009 until then I worked as the main receptionist for the clinic. When I first started we have four clinics and we’ve now expanded to six. It can get pretty hectic haha. How I got my job and what that’s done for my life will be a story for another time too. When I first started though, I was in year 12 and I did a business traineeship. Then last July I decided to do some more study and am now working towards a Business degree majoring in Marketing. I never want my life to plateau because the easy option is to keep things as they are, so deciding to go to uni was something I probably didn’t ever think I’d do but am glad I have. It’s all online study too which means I can still work and have a life!

One of the biggest parts of my life is the church family that I am apart of and the journey I’m on with Jesus discovering who He is and what He has for my life. Towards the end of 2010, I started attending a local church in Devonport and seven years later I’m still there! I get to serve the young people of my city as part of our youth team which is a whole heap of fun. I’m the size of a grade 7 student so often get confused for a high-schooler haha. I also get to help lead an area of our Creative team along with being apart of our vocal team. I love singing, always have, and love that it’s a way in which I can express how good and beautiful God is. It’s a really good deal!

These few things are the key area’s of my life – the things that obtain the majority of my attention. It’s definitely just the surface, but one day we’ll go into more depth on each of them (plus a whole lot more!)
